Hozier released his latest single, “Movement” and announced a new album today. A little over two months after his last release, the artist has officially promised new music for the new year.
Andrew Hozier-Byrne came on to the scene with the iconic single “Take Me To Church.” His debut album, “Hozier,” was released back in 2014, where he then toured extensively. Then, after solidifying his place in the alternative music scene, he disappeared for a couple of years.
But now Hozier’s back. A little over two months ago, he released the EP, “Nina Cried Power,” earlier this fall, which featured the latest protest anthem and the title track, “Nina Cried Power,” which featured Mavis Staples.
Along with the new track, “Movement,” Hozier has also dropped a music video featuring dancer Sergei Polunin.
“That performance itself gave rise to ideas in the song 'Movement,' so I was incredibly proud to work with Sergei on this video. Sergei Polunin is a once-in-a-generation talent. He's a man of incredible skill and artistry and shows a dedication to his art form that I find inspiring. I'm thrilled to share this with everyone," Hozier told NPR.
“Movement,” keeps Hozier at his best: passionate and bold. Hozier's vocals and build up feel stormy and powerful. His utilization of noise (and at times lack thereof) create an effect that feels intense and compelling.
Hozier croons out “Move me, baby / Shake like the bough of a willow tree / You do it naturally,” in a way that is nothing short of lustful. It has a touch of nature, Hozier’s iconic vocals, and is musically complex: all mixed together to make one great Hozier song.
Hozier’s second album is set to come out in early 2019.
