Three weeks after releasing a new song and music video, “Longshot,” Catfish and the Bottlemen are back again, this time to announce the upcoming release of their new album, “The Balance.” The indie Welsh rock band has been relatively quiet since finishing their tours for their last album “Ride” and opening the Revolution Radio tour for Green Day in 2017. Now the band is back with a new single, a new tour that include dates in both the US and the UK, and an album release date.

If you were hoping for a change in sound with this album, it doesn’t look like that’s what you’ll be getting. While “Longshot” has a great hook and a chorus that makes you want to sing along, it’s nothing groundbreaking, as they stay safely in the comfort zone of their old sound. This isn’t to say the song is not good, it’s just expected.

It will be interesting to see what the rest of “The Balance” sounds like. Whether the album branches out from their old sound or stays right where it is with “Longshot,” it’s sure to impress fans who have been waiting since 2016 for new music from the band. You can find the album in stores and online on April 26, 2019.
